Thanks for these suggestions! We’re so blessed to visit our Brisbane Shakespeare Festival at the end of each year. This yr we will be reading our third play, and we always line it up with what they will be presenting! It’s really made Shakespeare something we all look forward to.

How often do you read Shakespeare with your family? At this stage I feel like one or two Plutarch in the first semester, and one Shakespeare in the second semester is all I can manage!

With my high schoolers we are enjoying one Shakespeare play each term, but back in primary school we started by just reading the stories of Shakespeare, not the actual play. This helps them to understand the characters, setting and plot first. It also makes them appreciate and enjoy reading Shakespeare together more because of this grounding.

It is such a great book! Marchette Chute has some great books and The Wonderful Winter is one of our most loved family read alouds.

I know you'll think I'm stalking your home library right about now... but I have been falling asleep to Judi Dench's incredible retellings of her Shakespearian performances in The Man who Pays the Rent each night. It is so wonderful to relive these plays I adore told from her perspective and with her sharp wit & humour. Wonderful resource recommendations Jo x

Steph, I have to share with you that a friend of mine was once chatting to Dame Judi and some of her friends on the Eurostar. Funnily enough, my friend had no idea who she was and they were just talking. Said how lovely she is xx
